Pan-Fried Garlic Green Beans

- 1 pound fresh green beans (trimmed and snapped in half if needed)
- 1 Tbsp olive oil
- 1 Tbsp butter
- 2 cloves garlic (minced or finely chopped)
- salt and pepper to taste
- ¼ - ½ cup shredded parmesan or mozzarella (optional)
Heat a large pan with oil and butter. When hot add the green beans. Cook, stirring often until the beans begin blistering and browning in spots, about 5 minutes. The beans should be tender-crisp.
Add the garlic to the pan and continue cooking for another minute or so until the garlic is cooked through.
If adding cheese just sprinkle it on top before serving.
